- Applicants require an appropriate Bachelor's Degree or an appropriate Advanced Diploma (360-credit qualification) or equivalent
- A minimum final-year average of 60% in third-year (NQF Level 7) modules is required
- applicants who scored 55-59% may still be admitted if they achieved 60% or higher in the designated core discipline module at final-year level
- Candidates must have completed management discipline modules at NQF Level 7 and a foundational research module (ideally at undergraduate level)
- those without prior research training must first complete 'The IIE Introduction to Research' short learning programme before commencing their research report
- International applicants require a SAQA NQF Level 7 Evaluation Certificate in an appropriate field, plus other requirements
- Alternative access routes include Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience (certificates and CV required), and an option for IIE graduates who do not meet the entry criteria to repeat NQF Level 7 modules to improve their marks for admission the following year
