If they start with something other than the object, they are testing whether you understand the sentence, and if you know to put the verb next.
e.g. Die seuns speel elke Woensdag krieket.
Elke Woensdag speel die seuns krieket.

A very common mistake that English speaking students make, is that they put the verb in the wrong place. They put the verb after the subject, irrespective of what they start with.
They tend to say things like:
In die vakansie ek het Durban toe gegaan. – instead of In die vakansie het ek Durban toe gegaan.
Om agtuur my familie het vertrek. – instead of Om agtuur het my familie vertrek.
Elke aand ek doen my huiswerk. – instead of Elke aand doen ek my huiswerk.

Negative STOMPIN
If the object is a name or pronoun and the sentence is in the negative, the rule changes.
e.g
